Manor Farm Dairy (No 53a High Street) is a separate dairy and farmhouse building behind No 53 High Street with access from the street via Manor Farm Close which is still named as such. It is believed that this was a very long-established dairy. The dairy herd grazed that part of the Common known as The Paddock and, at milking time, were driven along a pathway to the cowsheds at the rear of the dairy. (LM)

George H Goffin - Manor Farm Dairy.

Note: George Henry Goffin was born in 1893, the 7th child of Francis Charles Goffin (The Pork Butcher of No 21 High Street) and Ellen Sophia (Naunton). (See Baggott's Mill). George married Elsie Annie Hawes in 1913. In 1936, their daughter, Barbara, marries Ernest Chapman, known as 'Shrimp'. (See wedding photo, right.)They have two sons, Barry and Nigel. All become involved in the dairy. George and his son-in-law, Shrimp, both have milk rounds, Barry often accompanying George and their horse, Charlie, and Nigel making deliveries with his father and their horse, Tony (Pictured right).

Barry Chapman - takes on the running of the dairy from his Grandfather, George Goffin.. Barry is also recorded in the 1950s as trading from the dairy at No 3 Market Place.

Barry Chapman - Manor Farm Dairy - George Goffin dies at the age of 81 in 1974.
